Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Embassy of the United States in Paraguay applauds the National Government’s commitment to improving citizen security. Through its X account, it expresses, «We celebrate Paraguay’s investment in efforts to improve citizen security and look forward to continuing our partnership in the fight against organized crime, defending shared interests.»
President Santiago Peña emphasized yesterday during the graduation ceremony of 600 new «Linces» (police officers) that he will tirelessly work for the security of Paraguayans, as this is the basis for a nation’s development.
«We are working like never before on the security of Paraguayans, but it is still not enough. We will not rest until we achieve a safer country,» he expressed after the ceremony through his X account.
He mentioned that Paraguay must have safer streets and neighborhoods, which is why the Government is tripling the number of «Linces» and training 4,000 new police officers to protect each Paraguayan family.
The Head of State emphasized that security must be complemented by job creation, the deployment of a social protection network that allows Paraguayans to have opportunities, and education to be the tool for progress for all.
He stated that if there is no security in a country first, there will never be development and well-being. The president acknowledged progress in recent months but urged Police Commissioner Carlos Benítez and Interior Minister Enrique Riera yesterday to triple efforts for citizen security.
Likewise, he called for more commitment from the new graduates. «We need the commitment of every one of those who were trained, equipped, and formed to be on every street corner in the 17 departments of the country,» he emphasized, stating that «commitment, dedication, and love for the homeland» are key.
