Global Compact extended its call to apply for recognition for sustainable initiatives

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Global Compact Paraguay extended its call until November 5th for organizations, enterprises, academia, and public institutions nationwide to apply for recognition in good sustainable development practices 2023.

The executive director of the Global Compact, Cristina Cano, explained during an interview with Agencia IP that the call for applications extended to give more opportunities for those interested in applying to this recognition, which aims to celebrate and recognize practices that contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

She explained that on this occasion, five segments of society will be distinguished: large public and private companies, small and medium-sized public and private companies (SMEs), non-governmental and civil society organizations, and academia and public institutions.

“Through this call, we can make known the good actions that are being taken nationally regarding sustainable development, and also can recognize these initiatives so that can be replicated in the country,” she said.

The organization’s application extends until Sunday, November 5, and there are no costs. The recognition ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, November 30, 2023, at the headquarters of the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP, by its acronym in Spanish).

Regarding the recognized categories, she said that they are divided into four:

Planet: Seeks to end poverty and hunger in all its forms and assure the dignity and equality of all people.

  • SDG 1 – No Poverty
  • SDG 2 – Zero hunger
  • SDG 3 – Good health and well-being
  • SDG 4 – Quality Education
  • SDG 5 – Gender equality

People: whose purpose is to protect the planet’s natural resources and combat climate change to ensure a decent environment for future generations.

  • SDG 6 – Clean water and sanitation
  • SDG 12 – Responsible consumption and production
  • SDG 13 – Climate action
  • SDG 14 – Life below water
  • SDG 15 – Life on land

Prosperity: seeks to ensure everyone can enjoy a prosperous and fulfilling life in harmony with nature.

  • SDG 7 – Affordable and clean energy
  • SDG 8 – Decent work and economic growth
  • SDG 9 – Industry, innovation and infrastructure
  • SDG 10 – Reduced inequalities
  • SDG 11 – Sustainable cities and communities

Peace: which aims to promote peaceful, just, and inclusive societies.

  • SDG 16 – Peace, justice, and strong institutions
