Historic shipment marks the beginning of Paraguayan beef exports to the United States

Asunción, Agencia, IP.- Paraguay marked a historic milestone today with the shipment of its first beef containers to the United States after seven years of dedicated effort.

Four containers filled with Paraguayan beef were dispatched to the American market approximately 40 days after receiving official approval. The send-off ceremony occurred this morning at the Frigomerc slaughterhouse in Asunción, attended by the Head of State, Santiago Peña, and the United States Ambassador to Paraguay, Marc Ostfield, among other high-ranking officials.

Randy Ross, President of the Paraguayan Chamber of Meats (CPC), emphasized the significance of this day as one of celebration and pride for the Republic of Paraguay. He highlighted that this marks the commencement of Paraguayan beef shipments to one of the world’s most important markets.

Ross expressed joy in sharing Paraguay’s flagship product with the American people, recognizing Paraguayan beef as a cornerstone of the country’s economy. He emphasized that this shipment signifies another chapter in the long-standing history of collaboration between Paraguay and the United States.

International integration and economic boost

The CPC President underscored the importance of this step for Paraguay’s international integration, elevating its strategic promotion and reputation globally. Ross thanked national authorities and the American embassy for their continuous support in achieving this milestone.

Promising to honor the trust placed in the Paraguayan beef industry, Ross assured that every effort would be made to deliver the highest quality meat to American consumers. He acknowledged the commitment and collaboration of the country’s livestock sector, expressing gratitude to Fundassa and the Rural Association of Paraguay for ensuring the necessary status of the livestock.

Ross also stressed the significance of enhancing commercial collaboration between the two countries. He advocated for increased economic relations and exchanges to boost the shipment of sustainable and high-quality food, generating employment and development for both nations.

Advocacy for bilateral agreements

Encouraging the government to pursue further bilateral agreements with the United States, Ross highlighted the potential benefits of securing tariff preferences and individual quotas for meat and other products.
