Minister of Foreign Affairs presents foreign policy guidelines to Ambassadors and Consuls

Asunción, Agencia IP.- On Wednesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, presented the guidelines and outlook of Paraguay’s foreign policy to the Heads of Diplomatic and Consular representations of the country.

He discussed political priorities during the presentation, emphasizing global positioning, bilateral and multilateral political relationships, regional integration, and international cooperation.

Regarding energy policy, the Foreign Affairs Minister mentioned the negotiation of the 2024 Itaipu tariff and the review process of Annex C of the Treaty of the aforementioned binational entity, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Concerning economic priorities, he referred to the Paraguay-Paraná Waterway, the bioceanic road corridor, and Paraguay’s Pro Tempore Presidency in Mercosur. This Presidency will focus on strengthening the integration process, developing physical integration, external negotiations, and digital connectivity.

In the same vein, the high-ranking state official also commented on eliminating the consular tariff to facilitate trade and the Comprehensive Legalization System, which will enable the implementation of electronic apostille.

Finally, the Minister emphasized the importance of the Diplomatic and Consular representations’ support for Paraguayan communities abroad.
