Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Head of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (Mitic), Gustavo Villate, reported the opening of Starlink’s first devices, which will soon offer satellite internet services in the country.
«At @Miticpy, we opened the boxes of the first @Starlink equipment, the @SpaceX satellite internet service that will soon be at the service of citizens,» reported the Mitic minister through his account on X.
He also stated that he was very excited to be able to offer this new connectivity alternative to Paraguayans.
The equipment will be essential to carry out initial tests, which will allow for defining the necessary technology in crucial areas such as education, health, and security.
Ongoing tests are in the negotiation process to determine the service contracting model. Although the firm is finalizing commercial details, it is expected that Starlink will begin offering its services by December or January 2024.
Villate highlighted that the Starlink service can provide bandwidth of around 150 megabits, depending on the plan and type of service offered commercially.
