Paraguay and the United Arab Emirates seek to strengthen bilateral relations and sustainability projects

Asunción, Agencia IP.- President Santiago Peña was received by his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with whom he spoke about the interest in strengthening bilateral relations with Paraguay.

«We talked about strengthening our bilateral relations, joint projects for the mutual benefit of our nations, and the sustainability initiatives that we are leading from Paraguay within the framework of COP 28,» reported the President about the meeting.

Peña is in Dubai to participate in the United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP 28), which brings together representatives from a hundred countries to discuss measures and policies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The President is accompanied by the Minister of the Environment, Rolando de Barros, the Minister of Industry, Javier Giménez, among other authorities, to present the Carbon Credit Law approved by Paraguay, and which, according to Peña, will be a framework innovative in this market for the sale of gas reduction bonds.

At the beginning of October, Paraguay received a visit from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Shaikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Emirati delegation presented its interest in infrastructure projects for logistics, such as the Bioceanic Road Corridor and the Paraguay-Paraná waterway.

On the Paraguayan side, interest is in the potential of the United Arab Emirates for Paraguayan exports as a distribution center to the Middle East.

President Peña is in Dubai also accompanied by the Director of Itaipu, Justo Zacarías, the President of the National Forestry Institute (Infona), Cristina Goralewski, the Head of the Commission for the Defense of Natural Resources of the Senate (Conaderna), Juan Afara, and the Minister of Economy, Carlos Fernández.
