Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment at the Department of State, José W. Fernández, reunited with the Minister of Technologies of Information and Communication, Gustavo Villate, to agree a joint action agenda on cybersecurity and digital cooperation between the United States and Paraguay.
Based on their close ties and collaboration, both delegations shared their concern about the threat from state and non-state actors in cyberspace. According to the joint statement issued after the meeting, both parties agreed to keep strengthening the cooperation to prevent, disarticulate, and respond to threats.
In the digital matter, both countries recognized the importance of building a reliable digital ecosystem. This includes guaranteeing that technological information and communication enterprises focus on protecting privacy, intellectual property rights, and human rights.
Both Governments agreed to promote an open internet that is interoperable, secure, and reliable to enable people to participate online safely and openly, reliably receive critical services and information from their governments, exercise their human rights and fundamental freedoms, and drive inclusive economic growth. The US government will work with Paraguay to achieve its digital infrastructure goals.
Paraguay and the US will continue strengthening cooperation to build a more secure and resilient region and address shared threats in cyberspace. The statement concludes that both governments will seek to expand this collaboration by including like-minded partners in these efforts.
