Asunción, Agencia IP.- The drive towards sporting excellence in Paraguay reaches new heights with the ongoing organization of the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games, along with the country’s ambitious bid to host the 2027 Pan American Games.
During a recent tour of the Paraguayan Olympic Park, President of the Republic Santiago Peña witnessed firsthand the progress and efforts dedicated to the success of the 2025 Junior Pan American Games. Alongside representatives from the Local Organizing Committee, including Paraguayan Olympic Committee President Camilo Pérez López Moreira, an unwavering commitment to sporting excellence was emphasized.
Preparations for the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games were presented during the Panam Sports General Assembly in Santiago, Chile. Paraguay’s progress and determination to host a historically significant sporting event were revealed in this prestigious setting.
The confirmation of government financial support, with an estimated investment of 60 million dollars, underscores the national commitment to hosting these youth games, which are expected to attract 41 countries and around 5,000 athletes.

Additionally, the COP Arena, an architectural gem at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee headquarters, is preparing to welcome young athletes with world-class facilities and a focus on accessibility for people with physical disabilities. This sports center promises to be an inspiring venue for youth talent across the region.
«We are very pleased because we are demonstrating to people from abroad the seriousness and the desire that the President of the Republic has to support everything related to sports and, above all, to demonstrate that Paraguay can host major international events,» announced the COP President.
Bid for the 2027 Pan American Games

In January of this year, Paraguay launched its bid for the 2027 Pan American Games, aiming to establish itself as a regional sports hub.
COP President Camilo Pérez highlighted the seriousness and enthusiasm of the Paraguayan government in supporting sports and demonstrating the country’s capacity to host international events. Despite competition from other countries such as Peru and Mexico, Paraguay is determined to showcase its organizational capacity and become a sporting reference globally.
With 90% of the sports infrastructure already built thanks to previous sporting events, Paraguay is positioned as an ideal partner for hosting these games.
The potential venue in Asunción would be a milestone in sports development regionally and globally, reflecting the country’s commitment and capacity to organize large-scale events.
Advancements in sports infrastructure
Among these projects, the construction of the National High-Performance Gymnasium, the SND Sports Complex, and the COP Arena stand out. These facilities will be crucial not only for the training and development of elite athletes but also for strengthening the country’s capacity to host large-scale sporting events.
