Paraguay expresses full support to Ecuador in the fight against organized crime

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguayan President Santiago Peña has conveyed complete support to the Ecuadorian people and its President, Daniel Novoa, amidst the delicate internal security situation faced by the South American country due to crime and organized crime.

«What is happening in Ecuador is a call to unite even more to combat organized crime in the region with greater strength,» stated the Paraguayan President in a message shared on social media.

Likewise, the National Foreign Ministry expressed that the Government of the Republic of Paraguay firmly supports the Ecuadorian government’s fight against crime and organized crime and the emergency measures decreed by the Executive Branch.

Yesterday, Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa signed an executive decree declaring an «Internal Armed Conflict» and identified about twenty transnational organized crime groups as terrorist organizations and non-state belligerent actors.

He also ordered the Armed Forces to conduct military operations to neutralize these groups.
