Paraguay invites investors and asserts that it «will be a unique place in the world of technology»

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguay is ready to embrace the digital era, driven by clean energy and the unlimited potential of its people to foster a knowledge-based economy, as highlighted by the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, during his intervention at Mobile World Congress 2024 in the city of Barcelona, Spain.

On this occasion, Peña indicated that his government is committed to transforming Paraguay into a Green Technology Hub, equipping it with state-of-the-art research facilities and innovative technological parks.

He emphasized at this point that this is the driving force behind his government’s decision to double the size and resources of the «Technological Institute» of Itaipu, a flagship for scientific and technological advancement dedicated to education, research, and the development of renewable energy projects.

He said, «We are laying the groundwork for our next two ambitious ventures: the Green Technology District and the Green Data Park.»

He mentioned that the Green Technology District will host a partnership with Taiwan TECH and several innovation facilities being developed with significant partners such as Israel and the United States. «It will be a unique place in the world of technology,» he affirmed.

In that regard, he referred to the Data Park, which, he said, will provide «plug and play» hosting services designed for optimal connectivity and powered by 100 percent green energy.

The head of state expressed confidence that Paraguay will become the next great success story of the Western Hemisphere. «My country is ready to embrace the digital era, driven by clean energy and the unlimited potential of our people to foster a knowledge-based economy,» he added.

He argued, «This train, my friends, is underway; don’t miss it! Once it reaches its maximum speed, it will be too late. I wouldn’t be here today if I weren’t convinced you would deeply regret missing out on that great hidden gem that is my unique Paraguay».

The President is accompanied at the event by the First Lady, Leticia OcaPresident Minister of Information and Communication Technologies, Gustavo Villate, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Javier Giménez, and the National Chancellor, Rubén Ramírez.
