Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Paraguayan Carlos German Núñez, who earned the gold medal in Tong Il Moo Do last year, will participate again at the competition, this time in Kenya, Africa. The World Championship will start mid-December and will meet martial artists from 27 countries.

«Currently, around 350 athletes are practicing this sport. They are high-performing and have the programs they do in schools in the Metropolitan Area,» recalled Carlos Núñez, President of the Paraguayan Federation of Tong Il Moo Do.

He highlighted that they are working on the Sports School through a program in agreement with the National Sports Secretariat (SND).

«Traditional martial arts have a lot to do with it. We cannot leave aside that part of traditional styles. Now, this martial style emphasizes not only the technical, physical part of the students and treating it theoretically in terms of movements, but also goes deeper in terms of how to train the person in character,» declared Núñez.

The champion, Carlos Germán said that he started practicing this sport at the age of 11, which helped him immensely through his growth, knowledge, and experience.

«It helped me a lot in terms of character, as the President says because it trained me not only in the physical part but also helping me with discipline, perseverance, and to improve from within to tolerate frustration, which is a young person’s problem nowadays. Knowing your potential also helps you work on it consistently and gain experience. Sometimes a «defeat» is not one if we always take it as gaining experience that will help us later and achieve victory,» concluded the athlete.
