Paraguay rejects accusations presented against Israel at the International Court of Justice

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Paraguay’s Government rejects the accusations presented against Israel at the International Court of Justice in the context of legitimate defense against terrorist attacks.

This was communicated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), which, on behalf of the Paraguayan Government, regrets «attempts to instrumentalize this international instance for purposes unrelated to its objectives.»

In the International Court of Justice in The Hague, South Africa accused Israel of «acts and omissions of a genocidal nature,» which, as argued, have the specific objective of «destroying Palestinians in Gaza as part of the broader national, racial, and ethnic Palestinian group.»

Israel vehemently rejects the accusations of genocide. «Israel strongly rejects the blood libel spread by South Africa and its application» before the ICJ, wrote the spokesperson for the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lior Haiat, on X (formerly Twitter), in one of the first reactions.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli President Isaac Herzog rejected the accusations.

Herzog wrote on X that, in conversations with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, he emphasized that at the ICJ, «we will proudly present Israel’s fundamental right to self-defense.»

Israel will participate in the hearings and send former Supreme Court President Aharon Barak as a judge.
