Paraguay to make a presence in Australia and Ghana with nanotechnology-based manufactures

Asunción, Agencia IP.- For the first time, Paraguay will mark its presence in the markets of Australia and Ghana with nanotechnology-based manufacturers through the company Nanotek Py. This step towards expanding national products on the global stage is highlighted by the Minister of Industry and Commerce (MIC), Javier Giménez, who described the event as historic.

The Nanotek Py company was inaugurated in October 2023 in Luque. Omar Grossi, a representative of the firm, explained that, in the case of Australia, products will be sent to the Robertson Paints industry, which specializes in the production of antimicrobial active paints, where nanotechnology will enable the creation of paints that are bioactive and self-cleaning, providing a continuous layer of protection against fungi, viruses, and bacteria.

This is Paraguay’s first export of this type of product to the international market. Minister Giménez highlighted that the company closed the export of products with very high added value and technology.

This innovation contributes to raising hygiene standards in critical environments such as hospitals. Bringing Paraguayan nanotechnology to Australia represents a technological and commercial achievement.

Enabling exporters to reach distant markets

In Ghana, the Paraguayan company will export a bioactive textile solution to prolong the life of fruits and vegetables, as it creates a controlled atmosphere of humidity and ethylene concentration and reduces microbial load. These are covered with nanotechnology that wraps fresh products.

Grossi explained that this allows the exporter to reach more distant markets as the product can be preserved for a longer time, reducing rejections due to poor conditions, generating less waste, and reducing freight costs by mitigating risks associated with the cold chain.

Regarding this product, Minister Giménez commented that since Ghana is a country dedicated to fruit export, Paraguay is helping the value chain by sending this type of product.

«This Paraguayan company is now positioning itself as an exporter of very high-value-added products, of technology, of nanotechnology, rarely seen in our country. We are pleased because we inaugurated the factory just a few months ago, and today it is already a reality with an export capacity of technology that makes us proud,» highlighted Giménez.

Product diversification

It is essential to mention that the diversification of products exported to the international market provides a more significant influx of foreign currency and positions Paraguay as a relevant player on the global stage.

In this regard, Lorena Méndez, Deputy Minister of Industry, stated that being a completely different and non-traditional sector, achieving its exportation and expanding Paraguay’s presence worldwide with these manufacturers is of utmost pride.

For his part, Nanotek Py representative Osmar Grossi commented that the expectations after this first exportation are significant. He pointed out that «there is no growth limit» for the company, as it has various developments for different industrial areas.
