Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, participated today in the mega fair opening at the headquarters of the National Sports Secretariat (SND, by its acronym in Spanish) in Asunción. He highlighted that the Government’s objective is to connect labor supply with labor demand effectively and, in this way, promote more decent jobs that translate into better living conditions for Paraguayans.
Over 85 companies at the mega fair were committed to providing jobs with over 2,500 vacancies.
Peña declared that the Government «wants to combine supply with demand» to respond to labor needs. «Getting a job at this time of year would be excellent news, now that the holidays are coming,» he said.
The President highlighted that this alliance between the public and private sectors is fundamental. «We ask employers to go out and hire, and many times, it is difficult for them to find that trained workforce, hence the importance that the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTESS) plays together with training entities such as the National Professional Promotion Service (SNPP) and the National System of Labor Training (SINAFOCAL) so that people have the skills that the market job he is looking for,» he said.
The President added that the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTESS) must provide the tools to the working class to improve their living conditions through decent employment.
«The challenge is to employ all ages. Work is health, beyond the fact that we need it to cover needs, work gives us dignity and makes us feel much better,» he alleged.
Likewise, the Head of State stressed the importance of continuing to seek that union between the business sector and the State to connect more people with the workplace.
«Foreign investment will come to the extent that Paraguayans invest; that is the best promotion; if the Paraguayan businessman is not investing, it will be difficult for others to do so. In recent days, we have seen interesting union initiatives that are taking place between different private sector sectors, generating more work sources,» he indicated.
At another time, the President said he was pleased with what had been done but acknowledged that there was still much to do. He mentioned that to the extent that these 2,500 jobs can be located, that will generate an incentive among people and, above all, that more companies can join.
In this regard, Santiago Peña expressed, «I don’t want them to worry so much about how many courses they take but rather about knowing how many Paraguayans got jobs thanks to those training.»
One of the main commitments of Peña’s Government is the generation of 500,000 jobs for Paraguayans during the five years of his mandate.
