President visited driver Joshua Duerksen and met with FIA authorities

Asunción, Agencia IP.- As part of their trip to Dubai, President Santiago Peña and members of his cabinet visited the Paraguayan driver Joshua Duerken on the tracks of Abu Dhabi.

The driver is undergoing F2 post-season testing in preparation for his official debut in the category, the first time the Paraguayan flag will be seen in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.

«We sent him all our support for this great step that he is taking in his sports career,» the President published on his X account.

In 2019 Duerksen became the first Paraguayan to compete in the Formula 4 Championship (F4); two years later, he was promoted to the F3 Championship, and from 2024, he will compete in F2 with the PHM Racing team.

The President of the Republic also met with the head of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), Mohammed ben Sulayem. «I talked about everything that motorsports competitions generate as well as the pride that Joshua Duerksen represents for our country,» the President published.

Peña is in the United Arab Emirates to participate in the United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP 28), which will bring together Ministers and Delegates from nearly 200 countries to discuss policies and measures that allow the reduction of greenhouse gases.
