The Executive submitted agreement requests for four new ambassadors

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Foreign Affairs Minister, Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, reported that the Executive Branch has sent requests to the Senate for constitutional agreements to appoint four new ambassadors. Additionally, he announced that President Santiago Peña would undertake an international tour to Miami, United States, and El Salvador.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed the diplomatic and international agenda topics with the press after attending the swearing-in ceremony of the new Minister of Justice, Rodrigo Nicora, held this Tuesday at the Government Palace.

He mentioned that Paraguayan representation on the international stage is one of the priorities established by President Santiago Peña. During this nine-month management period, 15 ambassadors have been appointed to different countries.

In this regard, he indicated that last week, the request for a constitutional agreement for the ambassadors to Italy and the permanent representative of Paraguay to the Organization of American States (OAS) was already sent to the Senate.

Recently, he specified two more requests were submitted for Japan and the Holy See after receiving the approval of the governments to which the ambassadorial candidates were proposed.

«These four requests for agreement from the Senate have been submitted, and the last one, I believe, was sent today or yesterday; it would be the minister for the Organization of American States,» he commented while recalling that the head of state has full authority to appoint his representatives.
