The inter-institutional team is getting ready to work against piracy and counterfeiting

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The National Center of Coordination for Intellectual Property (Codepi, by its acronym in Spanish), whose coordination is exercised by the National Directorate of Intellectual Property (Dinapi, by its acronym in Spanish), incorporated new representatives of the public institutions to the team for the 2023-2028 government period.

“The efficient coordination between institutions that conform Codepi will contribute to improve our capacities of joint actions, and report the advances as a country in the fight against the piracy and counterfeiting that the Executive Branch is performing”, affirmed the Director of Dinapi, Claudia Franco, during the launch.

The temporary General Director of Observance from Dinapi, Diego Pérez, in his role of coordinator of the centre, indicated that in this plenary session, the representatives agreed to strengthen the strategic plan applied in the integral protection of the Intellectual Property Rights and, especially, in the fight against piracy and counterfeiting.

The Codepi was created by Decree 3074/2019 to develop and implement a National Strategic Plan for the Protection and Observance of Intellectual Property Rights in Paraguay. Also, it establishes that the members of the Codepi must reunite four times a year to develop and coordinate action plans to achieve its purpose.

The ten institutions conforming to Codepi are the Ministry of Industry and Commerce; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Ministry of Information, Technology and Communication; the National Police; the National Directorate of Health Surveillance; the National Service of Quality and Health for Plants and Seeds; the National Tax Revenue Directorate; the Secretariat of Consumer and User Defense; the National Telecommunications Commission, and in its capacity as coordinator the Dinapi. Likewise, and as guests, accompany the Public Ministry and the Supreme Court of Justice.
