Institute de la India, Adar Poonawalla.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>El director de la mayor f\u00e1brica de vacunas del mundo inst\u00f3 al presidente de Estados Unidos, Joe Biden, a levantar la prohibici\u00f3n de exportaci\u00f3n de las materias primas que se necesitan con urgencia para producir inmunizantes contra el coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abRespetado Presidente, si realmente queremos unirnos para vencer este virus, le pido humildemente que levante el embargo de las exportaciones de materias primas fuera de los EEUU para que la producci\u00f3n de vacunas pueda aumentar\u00bb, rog\u00f3 el director del Serum Institute de la India (SII), Adar Poonawalla, en un mensaje escrito en Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>El mayor productor de vacunas del mundo viene teniendo problemas para satisfacer la demanda del laboratorio AstraZeneca, debido a los problemas para acceder a insumos y a la cr\u00edtica situaci\u00f3n sanitaria en India.<\/p>\n<p>Los m\u00e1s de 200.000 casos diarios de coronavirus que viene registrando el pa\u00eds asi\u00e1tico oblig\u00f3 a la f\u00e1brica a concentrarse en satisfacer la demanda interna de vacunas y a retrasar las entregas tanto para el fondo solidario Covax como en los convenios firmados directamente con pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n<p>Poonawalla dijo la semana pasada que la producci\u00f3n estaba \u00abmuy estresada\u00bb y pidi\u00f3 al Gobierno indio que le brindara asistencia financiera, precis\u00f3 la agencia de noticias AFP.<\/p>\n<p>La producci\u00f3n de la compa\u00f1\u00eda de una vacuna desarrollada por la firma estadounidense Novavax tambi\u00e9n se top\u00f3 con obst\u00e1culos debido a las restricciones estadounidenses, y Poonawalla le dijo a un peri\u00f3dico indio la semana pasada que el embargo era \u00abcomo prohibir las vacunas\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Desarrolladas en un tiempo r\u00e9cord, la docena de vacunas contra el coronavirus que ya est\u00e1n en uso en todo el mundo provocaron un aumento exponencial en la producci\u00f3n, lo que significa que las materias primas ahora se est\u00e1n agotando.<\/p>\n<p>El SII, que lleg\u00f3 a un acuerdo para suministrar 200 millones de dosis a Covax, un esfuerzo ya que Nueva Delhi le paga menos por cada dosis de lo que gana por las ventas en el extranjero.<\/p>\n<p>India, que registra m\u00e1s de 14 millones de infecciones desde el inicio de la pandemia,
