{"id":452923,"date":"2023-04-17T11:14:09","date_gmt":"2023-04-17T15:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ip.gov.py\/ip\/?p=452923"},"modified":"2023-04-17T11:14:09","modified_gmt":"2023-04-17T15:14:09","slug":"toxoplasmosis-congenita-se-podra-detectar-en-paraguay-con-inteligencia-artificial","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ip.gov.py\/ip\/2023\/04\/17\/toxoplasmosis-congenita-se-podra-detectar-en-paraguay-con-inteligencia-artificial\/","title":{"rendered":"Toxoplasmosis cong\u00e9nita se podr\u00e1 detectar en Paraguay con inteligencia artificial"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Asunci\u00f3n, Agencia IP.-<\/strong> <\/em>Un grupo de investigadores de la medicina e ingenier\u00eda de Paraguay logr\u00f3 crear un software que permitir\u00e1 detectar toxoplasmosis cong\u00e9nita, lo que permitir\u00eda disminuir el porcentaje de cegueras, baja visi\u00f3n y da\u00f1os asociados a \u00f3rganos internos como cerebro e h\u00edgados en el pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n fue liderado por la Universidad Americana, con el financiamiento del Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnolog\u00eda (Conacyt).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La Dra. Olivia Cardozo, oftalmopediatra del hospital general pedi\u00e1trico \u201cNi\u00f1os de Acosta \u00d1u\u201d, una de las investigadoras, coment\u00f3 que, desde cualquier rinc\u00f3n del pa\u00eds, personal de salud que cuente con entrenamiento y los equipos de diagn\u00f3stico asociados a este software podr\u00e1n detectar toxoplasmosis.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Los da\u00f1os oculares causados por la toxoplasmosis son detectados por oftalm\u00f3logos, mediante la evaluaci\u00f3n del Fondo de Ojo. Sin embargo, el trabajo realizado por los investigadores podr\u00eda permitir, mediante el uso de la inteligencia artificial, que un profesional en medicina o enfermer\u00eda, sin importar su especialidad, previamente capacitado, detecte irregularidades oculares y esto le permita realizar una derivaci\u00f3n r\u00e1pida y oportuna de pacientes afectados a los especialistas, seg\u00fan comenta la Dra. Cardozo.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para hacer esto posible, los ingenieros crearon algoritmos desde la base de datos de im\u00e1genes de Fondo de Ojo, captadas a pacientes, durante controles oftalmol\u00f3gicos, en consultorio. Esta actividad no implica riesgos y cont\u00f3 con consentimiento informado.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Las im\u00e1genes fueron clasificadas en sanas y en patol\u00f3gicas. \u00c9stas, a su vez, fueron subclasificadas en lesiones activas e inactivas, dentro del programa dise\u00f1ado para hacer esa diferenciaci\u00f3n. Con ellas, crearon algoritmos que permitieron a la inteligencia artificial hacer las detecciones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para realizar estas diferenciaciones, las oftalm\u00f3logas deb\u00edan estudiar cada una de las im\u00e1genes e ir marcando las detecciones de irregularidades para que puedan ser introducidas en la base de datos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hasta el momento, se trata de un avance, a\u00fan en proceso de desarrollo, que podr\u00eda evitar da\u00f1os serios, especialmente a los reci\u00e9n nacidos con esta enfermedad, que son los m\u00e1s afectados.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cardozo menciona que, una vez mejorada la especificidad y sensibilidad, podr\u00eda mejorar la t\u00e9cnica de diagn\u00f3stico en los ni\u00f1os y que est\u00e9 a disposici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esta investigaci\u00f3n fue publicada en la revista \u201cData in Brief\u201d, de la Editorial Elsevier. Fue presentada por los investigadores: Olivia Cardozo, Verena Ojeda, Rodrigo Parra, Julio Mello, Jos\u00e9 Luis V\u00e1zquez, Miguel Garc\u00eda, Federico Divina, Sebasti\u00e1n Grillo, Cynthia Villalba, Jacques Facon, Ver\u00f3nica Castillo, Ingrid Castro y Diego Aquino.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Datos sobre la toxoplasmosis<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La toxoplasmosis es una enfermedad causada por el par\u00e1sito Toxoplasma gondii. Estos par\u00e1sitos pueden ingresar al organismo a trav\u00e9s de carnes mal cocidas, verduras mal lavadas, excrementos de gatos \u2013 animal hu\u00e9sped de la enfermedad que solo trasmite si se encuentra infectado-, aguas no tratadas y suelos contaminados.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Una persona infectada con este par\u00e1sito durante el embarazo puede trasmitir al beb\u00e9 la toxoplasmosis. La Dra. Cardozo explica que la enfermedad cong\u00e9nita podr\u00eda afectar al cerebro, los h\u00edgados (hepatomegalia), \u00f3rganos internos, los ojos, o\u00eddos; producir malformaciones, hidrocefalia, microcefalia, ceguera y otras m\u00e1s.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Refiere que, si se detecta durante el embarazo, la enfermedad es tratada antes de que el beb\u00e9 nazca para disminuir la probabilidad de que sea infectado; de lo contrario, el reci\u00e9n nacido (RN) debe tener seguimiento m\u00e9dico con diferentes especialistas durante el primer a\u00f1o de nacido.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Una de las principales causas de baja visi\u00f3n, registradas en el hospital pedi\u00e1trico se debe a la toxoplasmosis. Esto motiv\u00f3 m\u00e1s a\u00fan a la Dra.
