Asunci\u00f3n, Agencia IP.-<\/em><\/strong> The President of the Republic, Santiago Pe\u00f1a, returned this Saturday to the country after completing an extensive agenda in the United States, where he participated in the UN General Assembly and met with politics, academics and business leaders, whose he transmitted the vision of development and connection to the world that his government has.<\/p>\n

At his arrival, the Head of State was received by the Vice President of the Republic, Pedro Alliana, who fulfilled the role of Executive Branch during this period.<\/p>\n

During his stay in the United States, Pe\u00f1a gave his first speech as Head of State at the UN General Assembly, where he indicated that Paraguay has potential in these four challenges, by hosting the largest reserve of fresh water in the world, being a global food supplier, one of the largest generators of clean energy and having the determined project of becoming \u201cthe centre of South American integration.\u201d<\/p>\n

Regarding the encounters with political and economic leaders, the President maintained conversations with the President of the United States, Joe Biden; the Head of State from Brazil, Luis In\u00e1cio da Silva; the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjam\u00edn Netanyahu, and the Vice Primer Minister from the United Kingdom, Oliver Dowden; about joint actions to increase the cultural and commercial cooperation, among others.<\/p>\n

Moreover, he spoke to the Minister of Foreign Relations of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, to whom he pledged Paraguay\u2019s support for Saudi Arabia\u2019s candidacy to host the 2030 International Exhibition.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the President was the main speaker at Citibank Paraguay Investor\u2019s Day, highlighting Paraguay\u2019s potential and its objective to prosper as a nation.<\/p>\n

Pe\u00f1a was also a part of the Columbia University World Leaders Forum<\/a><\/strong>, where he indicated that Paraguay has significant environmental potential and development, which can demonstrate to the world that it is possible to maintain balance between both spheres.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the opportunity to support the transition towards clean energy, to have a society conformed by advanced human capital and be able to maintain the development and protection of the environment\u201d, said Pe\u00f1a.<\/p>\n

Regarding the encounters with leaders from business sectors, the President maintained reunions with the Directors of Apple, Chris Busch of Environmental Initiatives, and Carolyn Wu, Head of International and Diplomatic Affairs. The conversation was about projected investments in Paraguay in sustainable development through technology.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Pe\u00f1a spoke with Marcelo Claure, President of SHEIN Latin America, a fast-fashion enterprise with origins in China and a presence in 220 countries. The executive is also President of Bicycle Capital, an inversion firm of startups in Latin America. The investor published on his social media<\/a><\/strong> his desire to visit Paraguay in search of opportunities in the textile area for the firm that registered US$ 24,000 million in revenue in 2022.<\/p>\n
