Asunci\u00f3n, Agencia IP.-<\/em><\/strong> The President of the Republic, Santiago Pe\u00f1a, affirmed that Paraguay \u201cis prepared for great things\u201d regarding the announcement made on Wednesday that our country will host one of the opening matches of the World Football Cup 2030.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the Minister of the National Secretariat of Sports, C\u00e9sar Ram\u00edrez, affirmed that the country is ready for the grand celebration of world football.<\/p>\n

In the announcement made this Wednesday by the central authorities of the South American Football Confederation, it was communicated FIFA\u2019s agreement for the three opening matches of the 2030 World Cup to be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay. The rest of that championship will be held in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be three parties, and we will work to make them unforgettable\u201d, claimed the President of the Conmebol, Alejandro Dom\u00ednguez. He highlighted that this proposal adjusts to the possibilities of South American countries, whichcould not compete to be hosts of the World Cup because of the high demands of investment it takes.<\/p>\n

\u00abIf this had been a competition, where governments would have had to commit the required funds, it would have been irresponsible. \u201cThis is a very responsible and viable proposal,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The President of the Paraguayan Association of Football, Robert Harrison, confirmed that starting now, they will work with the Conmebol and the Paraguayan Government to host these inaugural dates and the matches. Still, he clarified that making a few more investments would not be necessary other than the ones already existing in the three South American hosts.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday is a day of celebration for Conmebol; it is a dream that has just come true. There are going to be three opening matches. It will start with Uruguay, and FIFA will provide more details of what it would be like in Argentina and Paraguay,\u201d President Dom\u00ednguez remarked.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that the worldwide football celebration returns to South America, where it had its first edition in 1930, and that is a vindication of the football history in this region of the world. In that sense, he highlighted that the Centenario stadium in Uruguay, home of the first World Cup matches, is \u201cthe most iconic stadium the world has and is still in force\u201d.<\/p>\n

Finally, the authorities explained that the three selections, Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay, will automatically be classified for the World Football Cup 2030 edition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
