Asunci\u00f3n, Agencia IP.-<\/strong><\/span><\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/em>Santiago Pe\u00f1a’s trip to the United States was essential to strengthening political ties with an American branch Paraguay had never worked with: The Legislative. In that context, the meetings that the Head of State maintained with parliamentarians and representatives of the American government are highlighted.<\/span><\/p>\n

During a press conference yesterday in Mburuvicha R\u00f3ga, the President informed about his activities in Washington, United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

On the occasion, he said that that within the American Congress, Paraguay’s support for the Republic of China (Taiwan) draws a lot of attention, coinciding with the strong support that the island receives from the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\u00abThey recognize and highlight Paraguay’s role as the biggest country in the world that maintains diplomatic relations with Taiwan,\u00bb said Pe\u00f1a.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

At a personal level, the Head of State said that since he took over as Head of the Executive, one of his objectives has been to strengthen ties with an American power with which Paraguay had no such attachment, such as the Legislative.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Regarding the previous, he valued the openness of that country’s legislators and, above all, the interest in strengthening the relationship with Paraguay, expressed during the recently held meetings with influential North American politicians.<\/span><\/p>\n
