{"id":542922,"date":"2025-05-27T11:46:51","date_gmt":"2025-05-27T14:46:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ip.gov.py\/ip\/?p=542922"},"modified":"2025-05-27T12:01:42","modified_gmt":"2025-05-27T15:01:42","slug":"government-to-promote-the-construction-of-the-southwestern-road-corridor-with-support-from-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ip.gov.py\/ip\/2025\/05\/27\/government-to-promote-the-construction-of-the-southwestern-road-corridor-with-support-from-japan\/","title":{"rendered":"Government to promote the construction of the southwestern road corridor with support from Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Asunci\u00f3n, Agencia IP.-<\/strong><\/em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Following <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ip.gov.py\/ip\/2025\/05\/26\/historic-paraguay-and-japan-elevate-bilateral-relations-to-strategic-partners\/\">a meeting between President Santiago Pe\u00f1a and Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru<\/a><\/strong>, a loan of USD 240 million was announced for constructing the Southwestern Corridor\u2014the second road project to be built with Japan&#8217;s support.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Minister of Public Works Claudia Centuri\u00f3n provided details of the project, which will involve a route from Yabebyry to Pilar, connecting the departments of Misiones and \u00d1eembuc\u00fa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This project will enable the integration of the \u00d1eembuc\u00fa department and provide Paraguay with a road corridor along the Paran\u00e1 River in the southern region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The cooperation will be channeled through JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), which also supported the construction of the Natalio\u2013Los Cedrales Corridor\u2014a 143-km road that is part of Route PY07 between the departments of Itap\u00faa and Alto Paran\u00e1.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The new corridor will include the route Pilar, Isla Umb\u00fa, Desmochados, Villalb\u00edn, Laureles, Yabebyry and the access to Cerrito, covering approximately 155 kilometers of roads, including sections of Route PY20 and departmental roads across the departments of \u00d1eembuc\u00fa and Misiones.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Water and sanitation works for Villa Hayes<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In a video shared on social media this Saturday, Minister Centuri\u00f3n announced that a contract will be signed in August to construct a potable water treatment plant in Villa Hayes, which will benefit around 31,000 residents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This is in addition to the water and sanitation project for the Metropolitan Area of Ciudad del Este, which will benefit 250,000 people in Ciudad del Este and Presidente Franco.
