Asunción, Agencia IP.- The President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, will visit Brasilia this Monday, January 15, to discuss important bilateral issues with his Brazilian counterpart, Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva, and other authorities.
The Paraguayan President will be accompanied by a delegation composed of the National Chancellor, Rubén Ramírez, the Head of Cabinet of the Presidency of the Republic, Lea Giménez, the Minister of Economy, Carlos Fernández Valdovinos, and the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Javier Giménez, in addition to Itaipu’s Paraguayan General Director, Justo Zacarías.
Topics to be addressed
Among the topics to be addressed are the pending agreements to be finalized at Itaipu, joint infrastructure works, cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime, and other common interests.
As well as the progress and challenges within Mercosur, as detailed this Saturday by the Presidency of Paraguay.
It is worth noting that President Peña maintains a fluid communication with Lula da Silva, even before taking office, and has highlighted this openness on several occasions, paving the way for significant expectations that pending agreements, especially in Itaipu, will be positively finalized, to benefit both countries and their people.
