Asunción, Agencia IP.- Beef exports reached 1.075 billion dollars by the end of August, according to data released today by the National Animal Health and Quality Service (Senacsa). Since January, 221,686,365 kilograms of the product have been shipped abroad.
This level of exports and values exceeds what was recorded in the same period last year when 219.9 million kilograms were exported for 1.054 billion dollars in the first eight months of the year.
According to Senacsa’s data, from January to August this year, 1,474,171 cattle were slaughtered, averaging around 185,000 head per month. In the last month, 193,303 cattle were slaughtered, with the Belén slaughterhouse processing 31,178 head, making it the facility with the highest slaughter levels.
Regarding total exports, including meat, offal, and other animal products, 508 million kilograms were exported from January to August, valued at 1.508 billion dollars.
In offal, 33,768,925 kilograms were exported, reaching a value of 54,604,786 dollars.
The main market for beef exports is Chile, which absorbs approximately 41% of Paraguayan shipments. Taiwan (10.6%), Brazil (9.4%), Israel (8.1%), and the United States (5.4%) follow.
