Commercial relations with Canada strengthened, and Paraguayan beef was showcased at «Beef from Paraguay»

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Over 100 importers, distributors, and beef traders gathered yesterday at «Beef from Paraguay» in Ottawa, an exclusive tasting event organized to strengthen commercial relations and consolidate Paraguayan beef’s presence in Canada’s demanding market.

The Paraguayan Embassy in Canada organized the event with the support of the Investment and Export Network (REDIEX) and the Paraguayan Meat Chamber (CPC). It marks a significant milestone in the international promotion of Paraguayan beef in Canada.

Attendees had the chance to experience firsthand the exceptional quality of Paraguayan beef, thanks to premium cuts provided by Concepción and Minerva Foods slaughterhouses. Paraguay’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in cattle production was highlighted.

With a sector that employs 17% of the economically active population and contributes 11% to the national GDP, livestock farming is a key pillar of Paraguay’s economy. The country produces high-quality beef and promotes sustainable practices that protect natural resources and improve animal welfare.

Additionally, Paraguay has positioned itself as a key player in exporting high-quality beef, meeting strict international standards in food safety and environmental sustainability. This was demonstrated by the recent approval of the Canadian market following a thorough audit by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).

Record revenue from exports to the Canadian market

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) highlights that since the opening of the Canadian market for Paraguayan beef in May, Paraguay exported 1,292,945 kilos of beef, generating revenue of US$ 5,819,021 by August 31, a record for the month.

Export volumes grew significantly in August, with 1,140,087 kilos exported, compared to 152,857 kilos in July. This demonstrates the solid initial momentum in the Canadian market.

This success in Canada positioned the country as the 18th destination on the list of Paraguayan beef export markets, surpassing nations like Egypt, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.

The average monthly export volume to Canada was 430,098 kilos, underscoring the potential for growth in this market.

Despite being a recent entry, the outlook for Paraguayan beef in Canada is highly optimistic. With a combination of superior quality and competitive prices, Paraguayan exports are expected to continue growing, further consolidating their position in one of the world’s most demanding markets.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the «Beef from Paraguay» event concluded successfully, leaving a positive impression among attendees. They showed clear interest in establishing long-term commercial relationships.
