Paraguay and the U.S. conclude joint cybersecurity review of government networks

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Within the framework of cooperation between Paraguay and the United States, the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC) and the United States Southern Command have announced the successful completion of a joint cybersecurity review of the Paraguayan government’s networks.

A statement released this Tuesday highlighted the effectiveness of this effort in identifying and addressing infiltrations in governmental systems.

«During the review, the cyberespionage actor Flax Typhoon, a group based in the People’s Republic of China with links to the PRC government, was identified as infiltrating Paraguayan government systems,» says the statement.

This review is part of a series of initiatives to strengthen Paraguay’s digital security, improve its cyber defenses, and mitigate potential damage from external threats.

«The government of Paraguay and the government of the United States of America will continue working to strengthen a security system to build and enhance the national and international framework,» the statement adds.

The joint efforts underscored the importance of cooperation in fortifying critical infrastructure both nationally and internationally.

«The collaboration between both countries demonstrates their commitment to a more secure and resilient digital infrastructure, contributing not only to national protection but also to the advancement of global cybersecurity,» highlighted MITIC and the U.S. Embassy.

Like any other country, Paraguay faces dynamic cybersecurity challenges. For this reason, the Paraguayan government reaffirms its commitment to working closely with international partners, such as the United States, to address the global challenges of cyberspace and protect its digital assets, MITIC concludes.
