Asunción, Agencia IP.- In a statement, the Ministry of the Interior affirmed that Paraguay and the United States will intensify their cooperation in combating drug trafficking and will remain «unwavering allies» in the fight against this and other transnational crimes.
«Paraguay and the United States will strengthen their collaboration in the fight against drug trafficking through the joint work of the SIU-Police, as they have been doing,» stated the Ministry of the Interior via its official account on X.
This statement followed a report by The Washington Post regarding an alleged decision by Paraguay’s National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad) to suspend cooperation with the United States.
In this context, the Ministry mentioned that both countries will continue working closely under the strategic vision of a comprehensive plan to strengthen the National Police’s capabilities, equipment, and personnel.
The Ministry also emphasized that Paraguay and the United States have been, and will continue to be, unwavering allies in the fight against drug trafficking and other transnational crimes.
