Asunción, Agencia IP.- The Minister of the Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur), Angie Duarte, actively participated in the Ministers and Executive Secretariats Conference, a strategic planning event for projects and objectives for 2025, convened by President Santiago Peña. In this context, the head of Senatur presented the entity’s Institutional Strategic Plan, which is aligned with the objectives of the Paraguayan government.
One of the key topics discussed was air connectivity, where the Minister highlighted efforts to establish the Asunción-Miami route, which will be added to the ten existing routes. This new connection represents a significant step in strengthening inbound tourism and facilitating the arrival of foreign visitors.
«Our mission this year is to establish the Asunción-Miami connection, which would be added to the ten routes we have achieved under this administration,» Duarte stated.
Duarte also emphasized the update of the Tourism Law, aimed at fostering greater incentives for tourism investment in the country. «We will update the Tourism Law to create a favorable environment for investment in the sector,» she assured.
Tourism in Paraguay follows the Sustainable Tourism Sector Plan 2023-2030, which seeks to position the country as a sustainable and authentic tourist destination. This plan promotes the country’s cultural and natural heritage as key attraction factors.
Regarding the quality of tourism services, the Minister reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the Registur platform, ensuring the formalization of all tourism service providers, including accommodations such as Airbnb, to guarantee high-quality services for both domestic and international tourists.
She also highlighted that Paraguay is becoming a hub for major international events, especially in the meetings tourism sector. This segment is projected to generate USD 350 million in 2025, thanks to hosting fairs, congresses, conventions, and large-scale sporting events such as the WRC in August, along with other confirmed scientific, sports, and corporate events throughout the year. «We continue positioning Paraguay as a top destination for major events. We already have confirmed events through 2030,» the Minister assured.
Another fundamental topic addressed was the national and international tourism promotion, essential for reinforcing Paraguay’s positive global image. In collaboration with the private sector, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), and the Investment and Export Network (Rediex), Senatur actively participates in tourism fairs and exhibitions, promoting the country as an emerging and attractive destination.
With the implementation of innovative strategies and improved air connectivity, Paraguay is positioning itself as an appealing destination for visitors and industry entrepreneurs. With a promising outlook and ongoing projects, tourism is a key tool for strengthening national identity and promoting sustainable development in the coming years.
