Border security procedures exceed 1,300 in the first quarter of the year

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The National Directorate of Migration carried out a total of 1,376 border security procedures at the country’s border crossings and airports during the first quarter of 2026. This figure represents 51% of the total procedures performed during the entire 2025 period.

Within this context, the procedures carried out from January 1, 2026, to March 31, 2026, included 843 departure restrictions due to a lack of required travel documentation, a lack of minors’ authorization, court-ordered travel bans, arrest warrants, and requests from other security agencies.

In addition to 431 inadmissibility proceedings applied to foreigners from Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Cuba, Bolivia, Lebanon, Peru, Bangladesh, Guatemala, Laos, Angola, Ecuador, and Mozambique, among other countries.

The Directorate of Migration also recorded 61 expulsions, in accordance with Immigration Law No. 6984/22, which are of an administrative and judicial nature, involving citizens from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, China, Bolivia, Ecuador, Lebanon, and Portugal.

Regarding the 35 extradition proceedings, these were carried out in coordination with the relevant security agencies and involved citizens from Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, South Korea, Mexico, Peru, and Ukraine.

Furthermore, 6 extraditions involved Paraguayans sent to and from Argentina; Brazilians were extradited to and from Brazil through immigration checkpoints, the institutional report adds.
