Asunción, Agencia IP.- President Santiago Peña begins an international tour this Tuesday that includes official visits to Taiwan and the Philippines. The aim of these visits is to strengthen trade ties with Paraguay and diversify the sectors and destinations of Paraguayan exports.
In a conversation with the press this Monday, Peña stated that the visit to Taiwan, scheduled for May 6-10, is part of the effort to diversify export markets for Paraguayan production. Taiwan is one of the countries showing a growing share of export sales.
«Within Asia, we have already done extensive work to strengthen our ties, beyond the giant that is China,» Peña said, also mentioning his official visit to the Philippines, scheduled for May 10-12.
This visit is in response to an invitation from the Philippines, which represents «an interesting market» that Paraguay wants to strengthen ties with, Peña said.
In that regard, he also recalled his visit to Japan last year, during which Paraguay elevated relations with the Asian power.
«Paraguay is paying close attention to Asia; we believe there is enormous potential. The completion of the Bi-Oceanic Corridor will make the Asian market even more important, not only for Paraguay but for the entire continent,» Peña said on Monday.
