Asunción, Agencia IP.- The institutional journal Inspire, published by the University of Bath in the United Kingdom, highlighted the work of Paraguayan researcher Guillermo Zaracho Mármol, who is currently pursuing a doctorate focused on reducing the digital education divide in Paraguay.
The publication presents his academic and professional background, as well as the focus of his research, which centers on so-called «digital orphans,» a concept that describes young people who, while familiar with technology, lack the resources and guidance necessary to use it effectively for their learning and civic participation.
The doctoral project is being carried out with the support of the David Parkin PhD Scholarship, funded by the Esther Parkin Trust, and involves analyzing the level of digital literacy in 150 rural and suburban schools in Paraguay. This study aims to understand how factors such as infrastructure, language, and public policy influence students’ access to technology-related educational opportunities.
In statements published by the journal, Zaracho Mármol expressed that his main objective is to return to Paraguay to contribute to the design of public policies in the field of education.
Finally, the publication emphasizes that the academic hopes his research will contribute to strengthening digital education in Paraguay and to the design of more inclusive policies, while he continues his doctoral studies thanks to an international scholarship for outstanding students from the Americas.
