Foreign Minister Reiterates invitation to the UAE government to participate in the Mercosur Summit

Asunción, Agencia IP.- Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano reiterated the invitation extended to the UAE government to participate in the upcoming Mercosur Summit, to be held on June 30 in Asunción. This occurred during a meeting with the UAE Ambassador, Alsaghira Al Ahbabi, at the Paraguayan Foreign Ministry.

It is worth noting that President Santiago Peña, during his term as Mercosur’s Pro Tempore President, expressed his intention to finalize the free trade agreement with the United Arab Emirates, another milestone in regional integration sought by the South American bloc following the historic agreement reached with the European Union.

During his speech at the World Government Summit in Dubai, the President emphasized that Mercosur will be the best platform for connecting with other regions of the world and his vision of making Paraguay «the gateway for the relationship between the United Arab Emirates and Latin America.»

Bilateral agenda

Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez Lezcano and the diplomatic representative of the United Arab Emirates, during a meeting at the Foreign Ministry, reviewed the bilateral agenda and discussed specific aspects, highlighting the commuter rail project and its consideration in the National Congress.

He also expressed his appreciation to the United Arab Emirates for the recent opening of its market to Paraguayan poultry, as well as the Paraguayan government’s solidarity in the face of Iran’s constant attacks against the Emirati population.

Ambassador Al Ahbabi thanked the Paraguayan government for its continued support at all levels.

It is worth noting that Paraguay is expanding its presence in the United Arab Emirates’ animal products market by opening its poultry exports, a key development for diversifying the country’s foreign trade and fostering growth in the production sector.

With this opening, Paraguay adds a new strategic destination for its poultry production, strengthening its presence in demanding markets and consolidating its position as an exporter of animal protein.
