Asunción, Agencia IP.- The number of residence applications submitted by foreign nationals in Paraguay increased by 62% during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year, according to data from the National Directorate of Migration (DNM).
Between January and June this year, 27,024 temporary residence applications and 6,219 permanent residence applications were received, marking an unprecedented increase in demand for these procedures.
In response, the National Directorate of Migration implemented a contingency plan to accelerate the processing of applications. As part of the measures, the Directorate extended working hours and introduced additional shifts on non-working days to strengthen document verification, compliance checks, and application processing.
The institution stated that these actions are intended to reduce processing times and improve its ability to handle the growing volume of migration-related procedures more efficiently.
The Directorate also emphasized that it will continue strengthening its operational capacity to provide timely services to foreign nationals who choose Paraguay as their destination for establishing residence.
