Paraguayan beef to the United States: A great accomplishment that promotes access to more markets, says Peña

Asunción, Agencia IP.- The recent opening of the United States market for Paraguayan beef is a great accomplishment for our country and, overall, for the meat industry, which plans to conquer more markets with the support of the Executive Branch. This was highlighted this Friday by the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, during his visit to Chaco.

«It is a great achievement. 26 years ago, the doors for Paraguay to export meat to the United States market were closed, which not only closed an important market, but the majority of countries worldwide use the status of the United States to access to other markets,» explained the Head of State.

The President affirmed that much effort has been made to carry out this step, which has been working on for years.

President Santiago Peña recalled that during his recent visit to Washington, he spoke about this topic with American congress members and highlighted the fact that Paraguay had complied with all the demands and was awaiting the approval of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (Aphis), which finally happened yesterday, with the reopening of the US market for Paraguayan meat.

«We are very excited and grateful for the United States gesture to habilitate this market officially. It is the accomplishment of many sectors that have made giant efforts and investments,» he expressed.

Along the same line, he valued the management of the National Animal Health and Quality Service (Senacsa, by its acronym in Spanish) and the private sector. He foresaw the beginning of great news for the meat industry and, in that context, assured that enormous efforts were being made so that the Paraguayan product could conquer more markets in the world.

He also referred to the great strength of Paraguay as a grain producer, having clean and renewable water and electricity. «This makes us look for this vegetable protein that we export today from 300 to 400 USD per ton and to be able to export animal protein at a value that is ten times higher. That will generate more employment and incomes for Paraguay,» he added.

«All this will generate more employment and incomes for Paraguay,» he highlighted today in his visit to Fuerte Olimpo, from Alto Paraguay region.

On the other hand, Peña ratified the commitment to strengthen the Chaco security system and generate the necessary investment to continue developing the Western region.

«We will continue investing in roads and access to drinking water because many communities are suffering lack of access to it, so we are talking about some definitive solutions,» he stated.
